It is ridiculously easy to lose yourself in self-pity.
Even easier to start embracing the feeling as normal. A false positive that crutches your poor sense of self. The sorrowful meloncholy enpowering this 'martyrdom' you use as an alternative for esteem.
One begins to accept the 'attacks' on status quo as a noble suffering, to be endured and expects reciprical admiration and support from the world for one's flawed perception.
Dumb-ass; who told you life was going to be perfect?
Get off your butt and move on. Stop languishing in the quagmire of self-importance. You are but one in over six billion. So irrespective of the position or status you hold in people's lives around you, remember they too only hold that same insignificant position as part of the human race.
How 'special' can you really be? Once your charms are lost or used up on those around you, for your own sake, move on... Change your mindset, stop blaming every other little person (in the grand scheme), stop wallowing and start swallowing; first that stupid pride, then that idea that 'everybody's watching' (been waiting and wanting you to fail).
If that is the case; better you move on anyway, because ultimately, you define yourself. Every other person, while integral in that definition, is replaceable or interchangeable in your hierarchy of essenses required to formulate the new you.
What you are never changes; but who you are changes constantly.
Get a life...
With God's help I strive, fail and prosper daily - makes the ride totally bearable and on occasion even spectacular!
I love you all (specks in the Master's kaleidascope, but none more or less important) ~ SB
