MD - Not so lost, but all alone

Well here we are, Mother's Day 2011. Yes I know, you are all saying it's just a commercial ploy to increase retail sales; but what's the harm in having a worldwide day for mothers? It has always been a special celebration day in my family.

Sadly, this one is particularly different. I'm all on my own... Motherless!

My own mom's been whisked away, by my younger sister for a special Sunday lunch with her husband's mother.
My elder sister, also a mother, is being treated by her three sons today (they are usually around), and my life-partner is still away completing her sabbatical.

So here I am, with no one to spoil and pamper on this our, now ex, special family day celebration. However; I' m not overly upset about this situation...

I'm more concerned about my feeling like a fraud. For all my advices and writings that advocate love and care, I should be out there looking for someone to share this day with. I am sure there is a mother out there somewhere, who hasn't seen her kids today, who is anxiously looking out of her old-age home room's window, who didn't receive a breakfast in bed, who didn't even receive a phone call to make her feel special, etc. I should be out there, for any one of those, and many other neglected moms.

I compensated by scribing a special prayer for all of you today:

Loving Heavenly Father God, bless all your mothers on this day; and remaining days that follow,
I hope, trust, wish and pray, they will be just as loved, cared about and honoured still tomorrow,
Forgive the errant offspring God, who forgot, perhaps resent old wounds, hurting from the past,
To spread a little joy and love, for her who birthed them here on earth, and restore a bond to last...
Amen.

All my love ~ SB
