It is the VOICE WITHIN that one must be married to. All marriage is a metaphor for this marriage. My lover is the place inside me where an honest 'yes' and 'no' comes from. That's my partner. It's always there. And when it tells you 'yes', when your integrity says 'no', then it is time to divorce that partner.
