Is threescore years and ten a pre-ordained natural passage of time for man to wander the Earth? Does that mean that living beyond this period is a blessing from our Maker - in effect a privilege granted?
I will soon reach twoscore and ten - and consider that a blessing already - actually quite an accomplishment. However; modern medicine has provided the ability to live far beyond this age, and I wonder if that is perhaps messing with the grand scheme of things?
You will notice that all the aforementioned are questions I pose; so don't get pepper in your panties! I'm just thinking about the mortality of man; and what we should expect as a milestone age to make a natural, dignified and grand-self-actualised exit from this mortal coil?
How urgent should our mission and journey to fulfilling our purpose in life be?
Eccl: 3:2: To every thing
there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die…
Ps: 90:10: The days of our
years are threescore years and ten; and if by
reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and
sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Gen: 46:27: And the sons
of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt ,
were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt , were threescore and ten.
2Chron:36:21: To fulfil
the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her
Sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
Zech:1:12: Then the angel
of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have
mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had
indignation these threescore and ten years?
